LSF Board Members gathered at the LSF Headquarters in Dar es Salaam for a high-level strategic meeting aimed at reflecting on the organization's progress, reviewing performance, and identifying areas for improvement to strengthen the delivery of legal aid services, particularly to women, children, and marginalized communities across Tanzania.
Prior to the official session, Board Members engaged in meaningful discussions, sharing experiences and insights on how LSF can enhance its impact, deepen community engagement, and respond more effectively to the evolving legal needs of the population.
During the meeting, a special recognition ceremony was held to honor outgoing Board Chairperson Ms. Beng’i Issa, who served from 2018 to 2024. She was celebrated for her visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and transformative contributions to LSF’s mission. She received an honorary award and a commemorative gift, presented by the new Board Chairperson, Retired Judge Robert Makaramba.
Ms. Munira Humoud, another outgoing Board Member, was also recognized for her tireless efforts and dedication to advancing LSF’s governance and programmatic achievements. Her six years of service were marked by significant organizational milestones, and her leadership was instrumental in fostering a culture of transparency and results.
The event marked a transition of leadership, with Retired High Court Judge Robert Makaramba officially assuming the role of Board Chairperson. His legal expertise and longstanding commitment to justice and human rights are expected to provide strong guidance in LSF’s next chapter.
Following the meeting, Judge Makaramba and LSF Executive Director Ms. Lulu Ng’wanakilala posed for a group photo, symbolizing a renewed commitment to the organization’s mission of ensuring equitable access to justice for all.
LSF continues to stand firm in its mission to promote legal empowerment, amplify community voices, and support national efforts to build a just and inclusive society.
